These are the national and international public funded projects I have participated in as well as an small summary of each one.
Proyectos Europeos
-
Launch Sound Level Reduction (ESA)
This project funded by the European Space Agency is focused on the study of new structural and design solutions that achieve a decrease of the acoustic load on the payloads of future launch vehicles.
-
Vibro-Acoustic analysis of Payloads and Structures with Intermediate Modal Density (ESA)
This project was part of ESA NPI (Networking/Partnering Initiative) programme. It was focused on the vibro-acoustic simulation of structures with medium modal density. For these structure using FEM or SEA leads to accuracy and computational cost issues. In this project new procedures to apply these techniques were proposed as well as a new hybrid formulation to analyse structures in the whole frequency range.
-
Vibro-Acoustics of Large Deployable Structures (ESA)
This project was carried out in collaboration with Dutch Space BV, TAS-Italy and 01dB-Metravib and it was focused on large deployable structures, for instance in folded solar wings. During launch, solar wings behaviour is quite different from the nominal one during the spacecraft mission. One of the main elements in this behaviour change are the air layers that appear between the solar panels and they were one of the main elements studied within this project.
-
Random vibration Enviroment derivation by vibro-acoustic simulation (ESA)
The numerical simulation of an spacecraft structure is one of the key first phases in a test campaign. The scope of this proyect (carried out with EADS CASA Espacio) was to develop a vibro-acoustic simulation methodology for spacecraft structures studying the base elements of these structures as single curvature and flat panels.
-
Aircraft Reliability through Intelligent Materials (UE)
The scope of this project was to study the use of smart materials on airplanes with the scope of applying health monitoring techniques by means of intelligent sensors as FBG sensors both the damage detection and for active vibration control.
-
Bond Assisted Single Step Assembly of Aircraft (UE)
This project investigated the manufacturing processes of aerospace components in order to optimise the design and to decrease the number of components they are made up of. The main scope was to prove the feasibility of manufacturing some elements (as tail elements) through adhesive junctions in an optimised process. The advantages of this techniques would improve the manufacturing cost but also the weight of structure.
Proyectos Nacionales
-
Space solar physics: PHI for Solar Orbiter and IMaX and SP for Sunrise
This project follows the previous development of the SO/PHI equipment for the measurement of the photospheric vector magnetic field and the flows of the solar photospheric plama. In this phase, the work is focused int he integration of the instrument in the platform, the launch and the first years of commissioning before the scientific operation orbits.
-
Active aerodinamic actuators for loads control
This project is focused on the modification of the aerodynamic loads on solar panels by means of using dielectric barrier discharge plasma actuators to modify the airflow in the vicinity of the structure, modifying locally the airflow and globally the aerodynamic loads. Such a reduction would allow to optimise the structural design of the system.
-
Methods for the determination of the vibroacoustic response and the reduction of the fluid-structure coupling of structures of the means of transport
This project is focused on the structural response of systems subjected to high level acoustic loads. The aim is to develop methods and models for analysing and achiving a decrease of the system response based on the use of micro-perforated panels and meta-materials.

Estudio de las propiedades de capas elásticas y su repercusión en la transmisión acústica en edificios
Elastic layers in civil construction are a main contributor to achieve the isolation characteristics of current buildings. This proyect, led by the Instituto de Tecnologías Físicas y de la Información Leonardo Torres Quevedo (ITEFI) of the CSIC (Spanish National Research Center), was focused in studying double leaf walls analysing the influence of the wall configuration and developing numerical models to simulate their characteristics.
